Bishop Milner - Reception & External Drainage / Resurfacing
Contract Value: £350,000.00
Duration: 6 Weeks
Location: Birmingham
Description: Creation of a new reception entrance and external drainage / resurfacing works
Client: St John Bosco Academy
The school were in need of a new segregated and secure reception entrance. A remodel of the existing entrance was carried out by demolishing the existing walls internally to create a new open space and construct a new custom made reception desk and glass partitions. Mechanical and electrical alterations to upgrade the heating lighting and fire alarm along with access control was installed.
To increase the safeguarding and security for the reception we installed driveway security fencing and automated gates for pedestrian and vehicles with access control and video intercom linked back to the schools fire alarm system.
The existing underground mains drainage had historically collapsed and this ran under the full length of the main driveway for the school. We have to excavate and install new drainage and then resurface the driveway, footpaths and landscape the grass banking's.
The works commenced during the school summer holidays and continued through term time when the school was operational to agreed timescales and logistical agreements to ensure that the school could operate as normal and not loose functionality of any key areas.
Because the works were in key areas of the school which relied upon operation, they all had to be undertaken during the six weeks summer holidays. This was a tight task but close programme monitoring and additional labour achieved this on time and on budget.
